Rate increase by DSRSD

The Dublin San Ramon Services District approved a rate increase that will affect a majority of its customers paying on average approximately $23 more per month. Residents with a 5/8-inch meter currently paying $16 bi-monthly will pay an additional $18 starting July 18. The increase will affect 14,498 of the district’s 16, 235 customers. The remaining customers with meters ranging from 3/4-meter to 8-inches had their rates increased by $2 to $796.

Dublin Schools Cut Back

After careful review, Superintendent Stephen Hanke announced that the school board will cut $1.8 million which will effect the class sizes for the upcoming school year. According to the 2009-2010 budget, kindergarten through third grade classes, now capped at 20 students , will be increased to save $260,000. In kindergarten and first grades it will grow to 23 students per teacher. Second and third grade classes will be increased to 25 students.

The contract between BART and its employee unions is set to expire on July 9th, and there is an increasing likelihood of a potential strike. In the event of a strike, a link has been added to the City of Dublin’s website (www.ci.dublin.ca.us) to give residents up-to-date information on commute alternatives.
