Around Dublin: New retail tenant found for Good Guys site
SOME POSITIVE SIGNS of an economic bounce-back are emerging in Dublin, but by no means are we out of the recession yet. That sums up the state of the city in the eyes of always-optimistic Mayor Tim Sbranti, who shared some updates this week about some of the city’s larger development projects — and the city’s efforts to draw new tenants to some large, recently shuttered retail spaces. For example, the empty Good Guys storefront in the Enea Plaza will soon have a very interesting new tenant: New Home Inc., which bills itself as “the first complete, one-stop for green building materials, systems, education and service referrals” is expected to spend more than $1 million on improvements to what would be the company’s “flagship” store. Sbranti said that Dublin, with help from its newly initiated sales tax revenue reimbursement program, beat out San Francisco, San Jose and other cities in attracting New Homes. “This is a particularly exciting development for Dublin,” the mayor said, “not only in terms of revenue and the occupancy of a vacant downtown location, but also in terms of the unique products they will offer.”
