Employee Food Drive is a Huge Success

The month of August began with the City of Dublin Employee’s annual summer food drive.  With four inter-Departmental teams, each team randomly selected a meal to donate towards: Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner.  Each team’s challenge was to provide the largest quantity of healthy and balanced selections of non-perishable food.  Less than one week into the food drive, the teams quickly filled the four food containers originally provided.  The subsequent five food containers provided were filled to the brim in less than one week later.  The drive ended on Friday, August 21st with a total of nine food containers filled to capacity with healthy and balanced non-perishable meals.  The generosity and kindness of the City’s Employees were clearly displayed in this food drive challenge.  The donations will benefit the Alameda County Food Bank’s charitable work of providing food to Alameda County residents in need.

Great Race for Clean Air

The City of Dublin is participating in this year’s Great Race for Clean Air Challenge.  The Challenge is a friendly competition between Tri-Valley businesses and their employees to use commute alternatives to solo driving, i.e. ridesharing, carpooling, vanpooling, biking, walking or riding transit.  These commute alternatives provide significant CO2 savings over solo driving.

The competition runs from August 1 through September 30th.  Dublin is one of 14 teams participating this year in the Great Race for Clean Air Challenge.  There are 8 races on the City of Dublin’s team.

The City of Dublin is off to a great start.  To date, 1,978 CO2 pounds have been saved and 1,842 CO2 neutral miles have been recorded.  There are only two teams that have saved more CO2 pounds than the City of Dublin, which are AT&T (77 racers) and Kaiser Permanente (37 racers).
