Stopwaste Contest to resume City-Wide

The StopWaste.Org Ready, Set, Recycle Contest that Dublin participated in last summer as a pilot program, is now going County-wide. This contest provides residents with opt-in rewards for reducing their waste and correctly removing their recyclables and food scraps from their garbage bin and placing them in the composting or recycling container. Outreach and marketing will start next week throughout the County with audits of trash/recycling/organics cans in a few weeks. StopWaste plans to start in Northern Alameda County with South County and then East County to follow. Staff will keep the City Council updated when they reach Dublin. Commercial accounts will be part of the contest in the fall but the focus is upon single and multifamily participation at the current time.

Dublin Pride Week to include Fitness Challenge

As part of the Dublin Pride Week festivities this year, the Pride Week Committee has decided to include a fitness challenge for the community. The fitness challenge will be a week long event, where residents will record and tally points for various fitness and good health related activities, such as eating well and exercising. This activity was developed in response to this year’s theme, which is “Building a Healthy Community.” There are still a few details to be worked out, but it should be a great addition to the many activities that will be occurring during Pride Week this year. Staff will provide a full overview of Pride Week activities to the City Council in April.
