Update on Speed Feedback Signs

The FY 2010-11 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) included a Speed Feedback Demonstration program for six locations throughout the City. The locations are: Amador Valley Boulevard, east of Brighton Drive; North Dublin Ranch Drive, east of Woodshire Lane; Antone Way, east of Grafton Drive; Central Parkway, east of Aspen Street; Dublin Boulevard, west of Brigadoon; and Vomac Road, north of Millbrook Avenue. The City Council approved the locations on December 21, 2010.

Field work has been completed to finalize each of the six sign locations. A notice to adjacent property owners regarding exact location and upcoming work went out on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. The signs have been purchased and received. The County will be completing the installation work over the next 3-4 weeks using recycled street light poles (cut to a shorter length). Once installed, Public Works will be collecting before and after data using the equipment’s data collection function (i.e., the “before” data collection will
take place once the signs are installed but with the digital speed display turned off ). Following “before” data collection, the digital display will be activated in approximately 4-6 weeks.

Creek Clean Up Day

City of Dublin Staff has begun preparations for the annual creek clean up event, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 17. The event will be held in conjunction with the California Clean-up Day. Volunteers will arrive at 9 a.m. at Alamo Creek Park and will be treated to a light breakfast. Volunteer cleanup projects this year will include trash collection at the following locations: South San Ramon Creek behind Dublin High School, Alamo Canal near the Civic Center, North Alamo Creek near Alamo Creek Park and Tassajara Creek near Emerald Glen Park. At each location, volunteers and Staff will be tracking the types and approximate amount of trash collected. Staff has sent emails out to past volunteers and contacted the Dublin High School to get the word out about this volunteer opportunity.

Needs Assesment Survey

In September, Resource Development Associates, the consultant performing the 2011 Human Services Needs Assessment, will hold three Key Finding Community Meetings, one each in Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton, to present information. These meetings will introduce the findings that will be the basis of the draft Human Services Needs Assessment which will be rolled out later this year. The findings have been developed based on informant interviews, focus groups, surveys, and Census data which was then used to determine the scope of social service needs in the Tri-Valley.
The findings will address the following questions:
• What are the social service needs in the Tri-Valley?
• What needs are currently met and how effectively are these needs met?
• Where are the gaps in service?
• How can we most effectively close the gaps in service?
Attendees will be asked to participate by offering their reactions and input regarding the findings. The Dublin meeting will be held in the Dublin Library Community Room on September 28 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
