On Thursday, Staff attended the East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay EDA) Revitalizing Prosperity in the East Bay event. The purpose of the event was to release the findings from the recent Building on our Assets economic profile report of the East Bay. The report looks at the dynamics of the East Bay economy and identifies the region’s opportunities and challenges for future growth. Some of the driving factors for our economy are: professional, scientific and technical services industries; manufacturing – especially advanced manufacturing; East Bay’s innovation economy; construction’s high concentration in the East Bay; and health care and educational services. Some of the challenges that are highlighted in the report are: focusing on companies to start, strive, and thrive in the East Bay; work to address statewide regulatory and governance issues; fight for continued federal and private support for the national research laboratories and related R&D activities; and nurture manufacturing by preparing an advanced manufacturing workforce.
It is the desire of the East Bay EDA to have this report serve as informational tool to local and regional agencies to focus and support efforts around job creation activities. Here is the link to access the full report:
