Green Building Training held in Dublin

The City of Dublin recently served as host for Build It Green’s Certified Green Building Professional Training.  Resident and Green Initiatives Task Force member Renata Flecchia Tyler was instrumental in bringing this training opportunity to the City by coordinating with Build It Green and attracting sponsorships. Importantly, this was the first time this training has been offered within the Tri-Valley area. Given all the changes occurring with the new California Green Building Codes, this is a great time to hold this training as jurisdictions, such as Dublin, are preparing for the new provisions. In total, there were 36 individuals that attended the training on August 16th and 17th at the Dublin Library. As a general overview, participants learned about:
• The science of buildings: energy, water, indoor air quality, and materials.
• Building the home: design, structure and envelope, systems, interiors, and finishes.
• How to market the benefits of green building to customers.
This is a great time for green building in Dublin!

Family Movie Under the Stars

Friday August 27th marks the final movie of the outdoor “Family Movie Under the Stars” summer series at Emerald Glen Park. The movie shown will be “The Blind Side”. This is a free event.  The movies shown this summer were “Back to the Future” on July 16th and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” on August 6th. Each movie has averaged over 700 in attendance.
The sponsors for this year’s movie series are Waterford Dental Group, Dublin Ranch Dental and Hacienda Crossings. At each movie night a local community group has been providing refreshments for sale to fundraise for their organization. The Dublin/Ramon Women’s Club, and the Dublin High School Parent Faculty Student Organization have sold refreshments at the two movies previously shown. The Fallon Middle School Cheer team will be selling refreshments at the final movie on August 27th.  For more information about Family Movie night, please call 556-4500.
