Communications Committee

On Monday, November 9th, the Communications Committee (Councilmembers Hart and Scholz) met with City of Dublin Staff to review and discuss the Communications Plan schedule (see Attachment) and activities. In summary, the Committee agreed with Staff’s timing and recommendations regarding its various elements. Staff is currently working on the website redesign and expects to be interviewing possible vendors during the first week of December. City of Dublin Staff has held one focus group regarding the website with the Dublin 101 Academy and received some great feedback on what they liked and disliked about our current website, as well as provided the City with examples of city websites that they think are well done (Walnut Creek, Burbank, Huntington Beach). City of Dublin Staff anticipates holding another focus group with the Chamber’s Economic Development Committee to get the business person’s perspective and hold an additional focus group with residents once a vendor is selected (possibly after the first of the year). In addition to the website redesign, the Committee discussed the review of social media sites (February), the business e-newsletter (January/June annually), and the publicizing of the City’s Twitter account (December). The Committee also discussed the plans for a City Council Open House event in 2010-2011 and will be discussing that more in March 2010.
