December Single Family Detached Housing Starts
December has been a good month for single family detached housing starts. The Building Division issued permits for 58 new single family detached (SFD) homes, which is the best month on record for SFD since July 2007. There are also over 70 applications in the process for new SFD homes that should be issued in the coming months.
The majority of the new applications are from projects that are already under construction, with 7 new subdivision plan checks in review by the City. New projects in building plan check include:
• Cortona II and Fiorano II @ Positano by D R Horton
• Calarosa @ Positano by Braddock and Logan
• Mariposa and Windwood @ Jordan Ranch by Brookfield Homes
• Chateau @ Fallon Crossings by Standard Pacific
• The Summit @ Schaefer Ranch by Standard Pacific
In addition, the plan checks are complete and approved for La Solara in Sorrento East by Taylor Morrison and Calabria @ Positano by K Hovnanian Homes. These 2 projects should be under construction in the coming weeks. The City also received requests for 3 new multi-family building permits. These applications are from KB Homes for 14 units at the Emerald Vista Project on Dougherty Road. These permits will be issued after the approval of the project’s final map.
