Dublin Police Services Youth Academy
Beginning Monday, July 19, 2010 and continuing through Friday, July 23, 2010, Dublin Police Services will be conducting a Youth Academy for students between the ages of 14-18 years old. The week-long Academy will be held in the Regional Conference Room at City Hall. Each session will be conducted between the hours of 9am and 12pm. There is no fee to attend the Academy. The Academy may include courses in the following areas:
- Crime Scene Investigations
- Drug Identification & Prevention
- Special Response Unit
- Bomb Squad Unit
- Backgrounds & Recruiting
- Crime Prevention/Community Policing
- Police Station Tour
- Traffic Motor Unit
The Academy is an excellent opportunity for students to learn specific elements of the law enforcement profession. The Academy is designed for students who have an interest in the field of criminal justice. Applications for the Academy can be obtained at Dublin Police Services, (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm) or by calling Officer P. Cervantez at (925) 833-6690. The deadline for applications is Monday, July 12, 2010. All applicants under the age of 18 years old must have parental consent before attending the academy. Classes will be limited to 20-25 students on a first-come, first served basis. Potential participants must successfully complete a background check, sign waiver forms and be approved by the Chief of Police. Felony or misdemeanor arrests are cause for application denial.
