Update on Dublin Officer Involved Shooting

SUBJECT: Officer Involved Shooting
On Thursday, April 28, 2011, about 1:30 a.m., a Dublin Police Sergeant contacted Daryl Podborny 53 years old, a local transient. He was walking through an area of closed businesses near the intersection of Amador Plaza Rd. and St. Patrick’s Way. The contact quickly turned violent when Podborny brutally attacked the sergeant who sustained head trauma and became disoriented. In defense of her life, the sergeant fired her service weapon fatally injuring Mr. Podborny. The sergeant and Mr. Podborny received emergency medical treatment at the scene. The sergeant was transported to the hospital via ambulance with serious head injuries. Mr. Podborny succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
