Dublin mayor shares good business news in State of City speech
DUBLIN — Even during tough economic times, Mayor Tim Sbranti is seeing green — both financially and environmentally — for the city. That was part of Sbranti’s message during an hourlong midyear city review speech at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s breakfast mixer at McNamara’s Steak and Chop House. “Some are paralyzed by the times,” said Sbranti. “But we are finding ways to take advantage of the times.” Sbranti announced that New Home Inc., a green retail superstore, is moving into the Enea Plaza building that once housed Good Guys. The store, which could open by the end of the year, is being hailed as the chain’s flagship location and will be one of nine similar stores scheduled to open in Northern California. Dublin’s focus on going green was part of the reason Sbranti said the city was able to beat out other cities and land New Home Inc. “A lot of cities talk about going green,” said Sbranti. “But we are doing it and going about it aggressively.”
