National Prescription Drug Take Back Recap

On April 28, 2012, Dublin Police Services hosted a “National Prescription Drug Take Back”. A total of 355 pounds of unwanted prescriptions were collected. This is a dramatic increase over the 145 pounds that were collected at the last event on October 29, 2011.

Dublin Veteran’s Housing

Alameda County Housing and Community Development (HCD) is the lead agency for the Alameda County HOME Consortium, which includes Dublin as an Urban County (UC) city. Through this Consortium, the UC receives an annual allocation of HOME funds and allocates those funds through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process each year.

On January 10, 2012, a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for an estimated $330,000 of HOME funds was mailed to 265 organizations. HCD received only two applications, of which one was from Eden Housing for Dublin’s Veteran’s Housing Project. The other application did not meet the minimum threshold for funding.

At the May 3, 2012 UC Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting, the TAC voted to award Eden Housing $346,719 for Dublin’s project. The actual funding amount was higher than the original estimate of $330,000.

Eden Housing will work with County staff to execute the necessary contracts and documents.

Dublin Farmers’ Market Kicks-Off Second Season

The Dublin Farmers’ Market kicked-off its second season last week on May 3, 2012, at Emerald Glen Park.

This season, the Market debuted a new “look” by moving the booths and the stage closer to the corner of Tassajara Road and Central Parkway. The new location allows residents to park along Central Parkway or in the adjacent parking lot to the park, and it increases visibility to drivers passing by.

Despite the weather, a number of residents came out to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables, and stayed to enjoy the music performance by Jukebox Heroes. City Staff collected over 300 emails from residents who wanted to be informed about Farmers’ Market activities.
