Meeting Notes - Alameda County Congestion Management Agency

After a restful holiday season, things picked up immediately right at the start of January, as I attended meetings for the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency (CMA), the Alameda County Mayors’ Conference, the East Bay Regional Communications System Authority (EBRCSA), and the Tri-Valley YMCA.

I am pleased to report that the EBRCSA will have interoperability by 2013, which means that both our police and fire departments can have radio communication with all public safety agencies in the East Bay during the event of an emergency. This is a major step forward towards disaster preparedness.

I am also pleased to report that my meeting with the Tri-Valley YMCA went extremely well. We discussed how they can expand their existing programs and services in the City of Dublin along with possible new opportunities in the future. They expressed numerous times that they do not want to compete with the City or existing services, but rather to find areas where they can serve a particular need. Some unique areas they are looking to expand locally are in areas of adolescent health as well as adult day care.

In regards to transportation, the CMA reviewed pricing policies related to the upcoming High-Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes along with examining possible options for funding as part of a 2010 ballot measure to have local vehicle license fee dollars pay for transportation improvements in Alameda County. The Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA) made a presentation at the Mayors Conference on their desire to gain a re-authorization of the ½ cent Measure B sales tax for additional improvements.
